Kyle of Sutherland Gala weekend a 'huge success'

The Kyle of Sutherland Gala weekend (August 11-14) was a huge success with a busy programme of events each day, writes Elissa Steven who helps organise events.
Ardross Pipe Band pulled in a large crowd at Bonar Bridge on Thursday night, locals and visitors alike. It was great to see two local boys, Callum MacInnes and Donnie MacLean, playing in the band. Another local lad, Angus Smith, is also a band member, but could not make on this occasion.
Friday morning saw seven women up early for paddleboarding at 7am on Loch Migdale with the session ending in a tasty breakfast.
The Flower Festival and Pancake Day at Creich Church was well attended as was as the history exhibition in Rosehall which ran all weekend.
The duck race at Invershin was won by Posy MacRae and the pub quiz in Invershin Hotel had 12 teams competing.
Saturday was a full day of the flower and vegetable show which has a great number of entries.
The kids' silent disco was a hit as was the evening dance in Ardgay Hall.
Sunday was a relaxing start with yoga followed by Songs of Praise and a Big Badminton Bash in Ardgay Hall.
The final day on Monday was very busy with a kids' cookery session fully booked. The youngsters enjoyed making pizza pinwheels and sticky popcorn squares.
The kids' film was busy in the afternoon and it was great to have a few youths at the silent disco.
Monday night finished with the Kyle of Sutherland Joggers' social run with the KOS Joggers. A few new runners attended as well as a large contingent from Alness Jog Scotland which was fantastic.
Running all weekend was a car treasure hunt and a family treasure trail in Culrain.
A huge success all in all.
