Kyle of Sutherland Churches say farewell to locum minister from Illinois

Rev Darwin Smith preached his last service at Creich Church in Bonar Bridge on Sunday, September 18.

Rev Smith relocated with his wife Annette from Quincy, Illinois, last August to take up the temporary role of locum minister for the Kyle of Sutherland Churches.

The couple quickly became part of the community with Rev Smith a keen golfer while Mrs Smith joined knitting and quilting groups.

Both keen dancers, they also enjoyed taking part in local concerts and ceilidhs.

As a surprise for their last service, Piper Rory Scott piped in the congregation and then the Smiths to the delight of everyone.

The Kyle of Sutherland Churches have now welcomed Rev Lizzie Campbell as their new locum.
