Former Wick Academy boss Davie Kirkwood has finally signed up for the manager’s job at Brora Rangers after a compensation deal was agreed with the Caithness club last night.

Kirkwood resigned from his post at Harmsworth Park last Friday and travelled with the Brora team to Lossiemouth on Saturday, but Wick refused to accept his resignation, demanding he work his month’s notice.

The clubs failed to reach agreement over compensation.

However, talks last night were amicable and a deal was reached.

Kirkwood said: “I am delighted to be the new man in charge at Brora. They are now a club with significant potential and a high skills base.

“My target is to take them forward and I want a team who will play in a positive manner, who are good to watch.

“I want people in the north to sit up and take notice of the way we play.”
