Following last month’s announcement of interim elections for fifteen Highland communities, Highland Council has today confirmed that eleven community councils have been formed, uncontested.

Kinlochbervie community council, which has been in abeyance for most of 2022 due to previous members stepping down, now has eight members. Named on the council following today's announcement are Christopher Ambler, Daniel Knaack, Christine MacKenzie, Lawrence Macleod, Margaret Meek, Lynn Munro, Gary Sutherland and John Whyte.

The full list of community councils includes:

  • Acharacle Community Council
  • Aviemore & Vicinity Community Council
  • Culloden Community Council
  • Duror & Kentallen Community Council
  • Glengarry Community Council
  • Kinlochbervie Community Council
  • Kinlochleven Community Council
  • Morvern Community Council
  • Raasay Community Council
  • Resolis Community Council
  • Wick Community Council

Four Community Councils failed to attract half the maximum membership so have not been established, namely:

  • Boat of Garten Community Council
  • Conon Bridge Community Council
  • East Nairnshire Community Council
  • Shieldaig Community Council

Full details are available on Highland Council’s website at: https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/799/elections_and_voting/643/community_councils
