Inverness's own home-grown movie-star Karen Gillan was the star of this year's New York City Tartan Week Parade.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actress was appointed the grand marshal of the finale on Saturday in the Big Apple.

She wore a kilt of Clan McQueen made by Howie Nicholsby of 21st Century Kilts.

The city was filled with the sound of pipes and drums during the week but more so on Saturday (April 9) as the conclusion of the heritage event came to a close.
