Music promoter Sutherland Sessions is hosting a night of Gaelic song in conjunction with the Highland Blas Festival.

The event at Lairg Community Centre on Saturday, September 2, will feature two sets of musical siblings along with a Gaelic choir.

Taking centre stage will be Séamus and Caoimhe Ui Fhlatharta, a brother and sister duo from Connemara, County Galway, who are noted for their unaccompanied singing and unique arrangements of both Irish and English language songs.

The siblings take a particular interest in vocal arrangement and harmonisation with their performances benefitting from the vocal tones that only families share.

Their Late Late Show performance in 2022 of the soulful lament Anach Cuain captured the mood of the nation and went viral around the world.

They will be supported on the night by Black Isle born siblings Peigi and Donaidh Barker alongside Gaelic choir Binneas, conducted by John Joe MacNeil, and Jenna Cumming, and featuring young folk singers

Tickets are available now via the link on the Blas website at www.blas.scot. The event starts at 7.30pm.

Andrena Ballantyne of Sutherland Sessions said: "We are looking for an excellent turnout to support our hugely talented young guests."

The Blas Festival showcases Gaelic culture and Scottish music and runs from Friday to Saturday, September 1-9.

It is organised by Fèisean nan Gàidheal in partnership with Highland Council and will visit an array of communities.
