SOME flights between Inverness and Heathrow have been cancelled again today (Saturday) as British Airways struggles to return to normality after an IT issue caused chaos for its passengers across the UK on Thursday and Friday.

The 7am departure from Inverness to Heathrow did fly today – albeit 56 minutes late – but the 10.25am flight from Heathrow to Inverness has been cancelled.

The 11.10am flight from Inverness back to Heathrow has also been axed today.

But, at the time of writing, the 9.15pm arrival of this evening's Heathrow to Inverness flight was still scheduled to run and was showing as "on time".

On its homepage this morning, BA was urging passengers to "check your flight status" before setting off, adding: "We’ve been working hard to fix a technical issue and apologise for the inconvenience.

"Please check your flight status before going to the airport. Due to high call volumes please only contact us if you're due to travel in the next 48 hours."
