AN INVERNESS-bound flight made an emergency landing in Glasgow this morning.

The AlbaStar flight AP6479, a Boeing 737 which was travelling from Palma de Mallorca to Inverness, had been due to land at Dalcross at 9.10am.

However, it is understood it declared an emergency north of Manchester and descended to a lower level before then diverting to Glasgow.

The nature of the emergency is not yet known but Glasgow Airport has confirmed that the plane was met by its on-site emergency crews and that all 185 passengers and crew had disembarked safely.

A Glasgow Airport spokesman said: “The AlbaStar Palma to Inverness flight landed at 9.17am.

“The aircraft was met by our own fire services as is standard procedure and all 185 passengers and crew disembarked safely and without incident.”

AlbaStar has been approached for comment.
