Dornoch Cathedral is to reopen for in-person worship on Sunday, January 30, it has been announced.

The church shut its doors because of the coronavirus pandemic, switching to an online platform instead.

However, the kirk session has now agreed the time has come to resume services in situ.

Locum minister the Rev Carol Anne Porter will lead this Sunday's worship – a permanent minister has yet to be appointed following the departure last year of long-serving cathedral minister Rev Susan Brown.

Interim moderator is Rev Lorna Tunstall, minister at Brora and Helmsdale.

The church posted on its social media page: “To ensure everyone’s safety we ask that you please take a lateral flow test before coming to church.

“Face mask wearing is still a legal requirement in the Cathedral.

"We will also continue with track and trace and hand hygiene at each door.

“The south transept will remain a socially distanced area for those who wish to sit there.”

The post continued: “It has been a trying time for many folks locally and we look forward to once again being able to worship together. Stay safe everyone.

The West Church Hall activities will resume from Monday, January 31.
