Inverness's own A-list movie star Karen Gillan has praised the city's art scene from her home in California.

The Guardian's of the Galaxy star was speaking to the Sunday Times when she brought up Eden Court Theatre – a place she still loves dearly despite rubbing shoulders with top celebrities on a daily basis.

The former Doctor Who assistant was speaking about her role in new Netflix film The Bubble.

And it comes ahead of her role as the grand marshal of New York’s Tartan Day Parade this weekend.

When asked what she misses most about her hometown of Inverness, Gillan (34) told the Times: “Dream rings from Harry Gow bakers, and Eden Court Theatre.

“Eden Court is a place of genuine happiness to me. It’s where I was always hanging about doing classes and stuff. I genuinely didn’t want to leave that building and go back to school.”

And on her next starring role on Saturday (April 9) in New York City, she added: “I still can’t believe it.

“A parade for Scotland through the streets of New York. I’ve no idea what to expect. But I’m so excited.”
