Hit 1990s band Aqua – of Barbie Girl fame – coming to MacMoray Summer Festival in Elgin

THE band behind one of the most popular pop hits of the 1990s is set to come to MacMoray Summer Festival in Elgin.
Danish dance-pop group Aqua – whose huge hit Barbie Girl topped the UK charts for four weeks in 1997 – will play at the festival in Cooper Park on Saturday, August 10.
They join Status Quo, The Jacksons and Bonnie Tyler on the bill for the weekend-long festival, for which 15,000 tickets per day are on sale.
Organiser Andy Macdonald was pleased to change gear and announce Aqua, the festival's first big pop act.
Aqua's worldwide break came with their 1997 Aquarium, which contained hit singles like Turn Back Time, Doctor Jones and the notorious hit Barbie Girl.
Thanks to the doll centered storyline and kitschy music video, the single raced to the top of the charts worldwide and became an instant classic.
Early on in 2022, the music video for Barbie Girl reached more than one billion views on YouTube. It now has 1.3 billion views.
Twenty-six years on from that album and Aqua continue to tour around the world, bringing memories of the late 90s to festivals and shows globally.
The group has sold a total of 38 million albums and seven million singles.
The next act for MacMoray Summer Festival will be announced on Friday, December 15. Tickets are now on sale.
A special discount launch price of £45 for an adult day ticket and £75 for a weekend ticket will be in place until Christmas. Ticket lines are now open. Phone 01309 679613 for enquiries.
A new monthly payment plan has been added by the festival's organisers. This will allow people to pay monthly for tickets, with deposits as low as a couple of pound.
People who are struggling financially can ring the number and secure themselves a ticket for £10.
