Baby Thomas Ruaridh Strachan was one of Scotland's earliest new arrivals on Christmas Day.

He was born at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness at 12.47am yesterday.

Proud parents Lauren Mainland (24) and Ross Strachan (26), who are from Arabella, Tain, welcomed Thomas, who weighed 10lbs 5oz.

They thanked the midwifery team.

A spokeswoman for NHS Highland said: "Congratulations to them and welcome to the world baby Thomas from everyone at NHS Highland."
