HIGHLANDERS drink less alcohol than people in the rest of Scotland, a survey by health service provider Babylon has claimed.

Its findings show that the region's total weekly average was 3.4 units per week – which tied with Moray, North Ayrshire, Midlothian and Angus.

A total of 38,806 people were surveyed using Babylon's Healthcheck app to reveal how many units of alcohol, on average, was consumed per week in different parts the country.

In East Dunbartonshire, which was top, the average was 8.2 units, in Perth and Kinross it was 7.1 units and in East Lothian it was 6.5 units per week.
