Highland renewables to be showcased as All-Energy conference returns

Around 40 businesses from the Highlands and Islands will be represented at the UK’s biggest renewable energy exhibition and conference this week.
All-Energy is returning for its 21st anniversary and the first face-to-face event in two years.
It takes place in Glasgow’s SEC on Wednesday and Thursday.
In conjunction with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), the region’s businesses will exhibit on the HI-energy pavilion, which once again will host the largest regional presence at the show.
HIE manages the pavilion which promotes the region's leading role in offshore renewables, its experienced supply chain and its extensive range of facilities.
HIE’s energy team will be available to offer advice about opportunities in the region across all aspects of renewables.
There have been many milestones in the region’s renewable energy sector since the last in-person event in 2019, according to Elain MacRae, head of energy strategy at HIE.
She said: “There has never been a more thrilling time to be part of the energy transition in the Highlands and Islands.
"Huge opportunities have been created following the ScotWind offshore wind leasing announcement. There are plans for much-increased deployment of onshore wind, new pumped storage hydro projects are on the horizon and exciting progress has been made in the wave and tidal energy sectors, as well as really exciting prospects for hydrogen production and export.
“Our ongoing presence at the show reflects the extent of renewables activity taking place in the Highlands and Islands. These include world-first projects in community and marine energy, leading expertise in energy engineering and supply chain companies, and world-class port and harbour infrastructure.
“The potential benefits from the sector to a wide variety of businesses across the region are becoming a reality and projects are really taking off.”
Businesses featuring on the HI-energy pavilion include Kishorn Port, the European Marine Energy Centre, Aquatera, Green Marine, Wave Energy Scotland, Port of Cromarty Firth, Orion Clean Energy Project, Argyll and Bute Renewable Alliance, Orbital Marine Power, West of Orkney Windfarm, Orkney Harbours and Northwards.
