Highland Pride organisers and the Highland Council have announced that one of Scotland’s biggest LGBT+ Pride events will take place next year in Bught Park, Inverness, on Sunday, July 19.

Formerly known as Proud Ness it was recently renamed to reflect the hundreds of supporters who travelled from all over the north of Scotland to take part and show their support in July.

Next summer’s Highland Pride event will take place the day after the Inverness Highland Games and will feature a march leaving from Inverness city centre followed by an afternoon of speeches, music and performances at Bught Park.

The programme for next summer’s "Highland Pride" will also include the debut of a number of additional events and attractions and will see the return of the Ruff Ness Dog Show, Inverness Shinty Sixes and the Highland Pride Village and Craft Fair.

The Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group chairman, councillor Graham Ross said: “The Inverness Highland Games weekend is one of the highlights of the summer here in Inverness and we are pleased to support the excellent work being undertaken by the Highland LGBT Forum as they lead a partnership of numerous charities and community groups to deliver an memorable event that we can all be proud of.”

Highland Pride Events Manager and Highland LGBT Forum committee member Jessica Taylor said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the support which will enable us to host our summer Pride event during Games weekend.

"Following the success of the inaugural event earlier this year, which attracted thousands of supporters from all over the Highlands and Islands, Moray and further afield and was one of the largest Pride events ever staged in Scotland, we are really looking forward to next July.

"Planning for the event is now well underway and we are very excited about delivering another enjoyable day which will enable everybody to come along and get involved and help us celebrate and support our local LGBT+ community with our very own unique blend of Highland pride and entertainment.

"Further information is now available on www.highlandpride.org and we will be posting regular updates in the months ahead."
