Highland police name three people killed in A9 crash involving car and lorry

POLICE have named the three people who died following a crash on the A9.

The two-vehicle crash happened on the trunk route near Ralia on Wednesday, August 10.

The three who died have been named as 46-year-old Kathryn Bastion-Strong, 45-year-old Jared Bastion and 75-year-old Mary-Lou Mauch, all from the United States.

The crash happened around 4.50pm August 10 and involved a car and a lorry.

The driver of the lorry, a 59-year-old man, was uninjured, police said earlier.

Of the three fatalities, the two passengers, Mary-Lou Mauch and Jared Bastion, were pronounced dead at the scene. Driver Kathryn Bastion-Strong succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

Sergeant Alasdair Mackay said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those who have died at what is a very difficult time for all.”
