DAREDEVIL fundraisers are being urged to make a big leap for charity – quite literally.

Highland Hospice has announced plans for two major bungee-jump fundraisers later this year on the shores of Loch Ness.

It has teamed up with sponsor Ord Industrial and Commercial Supplies, as well as Stoddart Crane Hire to offer two hair-raising challenge possibilities over the weekend of September 2 and 3 – a traditional bungee jump or a reverse bungee where participants are catapulted 160ft into the air instead.

And the hospice is seeking plucky volunteers willing to either take the plunge or soar into the sky and raise vital funds.

A spokesperson for the charity called it "the ultimate bucket list experience".

Fundraiser Emma Nicol added: “We are absolutely delighted to be working once again with the amazing UK Bungee Club (UKBC) who have a 100 per cent safety record and were responsible for both our abseil and zipline challenges in 2021 and 2022.”

“This time our participants will be secured to a 160ft crane for each event, in order to go either up into the air, or downwards – depending on their preference. Some participants may choose to do both!

“Anyone participating will be fully guided by UKBC and Big Bang Promotions, both with whom we have a great working relationship. This is the perfect opportunity for adrenaline chasers to get their fix whilst supporting an amazing local cause. It is sure to be popular, so keep an eye on our social media for sign up details soon. There will be a separate registration for each option.”

She added: “We are so grateful to our main event sponsor, Ord Industrial Supplies for their incredible support. Huge thanks also to Alba Traffic Management for their support and help, the Dores Inn who will be open for food and drink all weekend, the Mackinnon family the local community at Loch Ness for allowing us to host it there, and huge thanks to Stoddart Crane Hire for giving us the use of two cranes for the event. We can’t wait for September!”

To take on the bungee challenge participants must pay a £35 registration fee and raise a minimum of £125 in sponsorship.
