We’re looking for the unsung heroes – those who have supported and cared for you during difficult times, people that volunteer and fundraise tirelessly for their communities and causes, hard-working teachers who always put their pupils first, incredible schools that provide so much more than a learning environment, and superstar pupils that achieve great things in their schoolwork and beyond.
Tell us about the green heroes who make your communities better places to live, healthcare workers and emergency services personnel who go above and beyond their duties, your local champions who put their communities first, the charities that provide much-needed support to those in need, and the brave children who show great courage and resilience when faced with adversity.
Title sponsor for Highland Heroes 2024 is once again Inverness Airport. Inverness Airport general manager Graeme Bell said: “It is a joy to support Highland Heroes for another year of showcasing and celebrating outstanding members of our communities. We can’t wait to see who will be nominated for the different hero categories, to learn about those who selflessly make a huge difference to those around them.
“Every year we are inspired and touched by the warmth, passion and commitment of these amazing people and this is a fantastic opportunity to give recognition to a very deserving group of Highland heroes.”
Each week, your favourite Highland News & Media (HNM) websites and newspapers will feature each of the 14 main categories. Once all of your nominations are received, our judges will whittle down the submissions to create a shortlist which will be revealed in a special supplement next year where you can vote for your Highland Heroes 2024.
In addition, there is a very special award presented to the hero of heroes who will be chosen by the judges from all of your category winners at the awards ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Highland News & Media managing director Steve Barron added: “The Highland Heroes Awards never fail to inspire and move us. Every year, we hear stories of great kindness, generosity, resilience and courage about people in our communities who give up so much of their own time to support and help others, and children who show tremendous bravery in overcoming adversity and challenges in their young lives. Highland Heroes is our way – and your way – to celebrate these real-life superheroes in our communities and give them the thanks and recognition they deserve. I encourage all our readers to nominate their local heroes and show them just how much you appreciate all that they do.”
