Summer of Fun(ding) at Highland Folk Museum!

High Life Highland operators of Highland Folk Museum announced today that they have been successful in securing funding from Museums Galleries Scotland’s ‘Summer Programme Fund’.

Newtonmore's Highland Folk Museum has been awarded £27, 157 which will fully fund their ‘Summer of Fun’ programme at the museum, with the fund being used to offer established Playschemes and Youth Groups from across the Highlands the opportunity to enjoy a full day visit to HFM- at zero cost to the group.

HFM is working with High Life Highland Youth Work through Community Planning Partnerships to identify participants and co-ordinate the visits.

Lorna Cruickshank curatorial manager for High Life Highland said: “The grant funding will cover all transport and catering costs for the day. It will also pay for a ‘Sail Canopy’ and picnic tables, creating a sheltered ‘Camp’ for each group during their visit; somewhere to be welcomed to the museum, to enjoy lunch and that provides a base to start activities, such as the Horse Shoe and Woodland Trails.”

The Summer Programme Fund is supported by the Scottish Government which has made £266,000 available to support museums across Scotland to contribute to the national summer of play 2021 by providing opportunities for all children and young people to participate in activities and experiences this summer.
