Highland Council now accepting nominations for May 5 elections with deadline of March 30 to put your name forward

Anyone interested in becoming a Highland councillor is now invited to put their name forward.
Highland Council is holding elections on Thursday, May 5, and published its Notice of Election today, meaning it will now accept nominations.
The authority is seeking to elect a total of 74 councillors in its 21 multi-member wards. There are three or four members in each ward.
Sutherland has two wards, East Sutherland and Edderton; and North, West and Central Sutherland, with three members in each ward.

Completed nomination papers must be hand delivered by the deadline of 4pm on Wednesday, March 30, to the appropriate local depute returning officers.
For the two Sutherland wards, the depute returning officer is Phil Tomalin or Helen Ross, at the council's area headquarters at Drummuie, outside Golspie.
Highland Council holds elections every five years and all relevant information can be found on the council’s website, including key statutory dates and arrangements for voting.
Applications to register to vote must reach the appropriate office of the electoral registration officer by midnight on Monday, April 18. Applications can be made online here.
