Highland Council 'Have Your Say' consultation deadline extended

The consultation period for Highland Council's "Have Your Say" initiative has been extended to seek additional views on the delivery of area-based funds.
Earlier this month, Highland Council launched a community engagement exercise to ask people's views on how they would like to see funding being prioritised in their local area.
The local authority is responsible for the delivery of several external funding streams and as part of its commitment to localism, where possible, these funds are devolved to area committee level. These funds allow organisations to apply for funding to deliver projects that respond to the needs of their local area to bring about positive change.
Chair of the Highland Council's economy and infrastructure committee, councillor Ken Gowans said: “This engagement exercise is being run by the Community Regeneration Team. They have developed an accessible web-based engagement platform to make it easy for people to participate. The website has been designed to allow a user to select their local area and view dedicated engagement pages.
"Users will find background information explaining why the consultation is happening and an area profile showing key statistics and links to local and Highland-wide development plans. This information will help when taking part in the consultation survey.
"The survey only takes 10 minutes to complete and gives people an opportunity to put forward ideas for projects they would like to see developed.”
He added: “The responses so far have been positive, and it is great to see people throughout Highland taking part.
"The information gathered will inform how funds such as the Highland Council Coastal Communities Fund and the Place Based Investment Programme are delivered over the next year.
"To allow more people to have an opportunity to have their say, the consultation period has been extended to September 9.”
