Highland Council Election: North, West and Central Sutherland declares the winners with LibDems, the SNP and an Independent

In Brief

Those Elected (vote tallies are the number of first preference votes):

Michael Baird, Scottish Liberal Democrats – 773

Marianne Hutchison, Scottish National Party – 968

Hugh Morrison, Independent – 477

Those Not Elected:

Charlotte Gibson, Scottish Conservative and Unionist – 302

Robert Jardine, Freedom Alliance, People Power, Politics – 48

Clive Soley, Scottish Labour Party – 108

Philipp Tanzer, Scottish Family Party – 80

Main Issues: potholes, mass tourism, connectivity, lack of services, cost of living, local democracy

Michael Baird of the Scottish Liberal Democrats will take up the seat vacated by long serving fellow LibDem Linda Munro.

Independent Hugh Morrison was returned to the local authority and Marianne Hutchison for the Scottish National Party was also voted in.

The final tallies given represent the first preference votes before the Single Transferable Vote System calculations are made.
