Meetings of Highland Council area committees, including those for Sutherland and Caithness, are to be made available again on the local authority's YouTube channel. Broadcasts will resume from the start of next week (May 17).

Covid-19 measures mean that meetings continue to be held remotely. Following a successful trial last year, recorded footage of all area committee meetings will be uploaded to YouTube.

The council says this will enable the public and media to view the area committee meetings online and to view archived copies for up to a year after each meeting through the Highland Council YouTube channel.

Previous area committees will be uploaded over the coming weeks.

Strategic committees will continue to be webcast live on the Highland Council website.
