Highland Coast Hotels has introduced a new discount scheme for people living within the vicinity of its four hotels, all of which are in Sutherland.

Anybody living within 15 miles of a Highland Coast Hotel is now eligible to apply for the new Highland Coast Community Card which will provide a discount to eat, drink and stay at the hotels.

The firm operates the Kylesku Hotel; the Newton Lodge, Unapool; the Royal Golf Hotel, Dornoch; and the Royal Marine Hotel, Brora.

The Royal Marine Hotel in Brora is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and is expected to reopen in April.

Locals will be able to use the discount across all four hotels, offering the chance for those based in Dornoch to visit Kylesku, for example.

For those eligible, the community card will provide a 30 per cent discount in the restaurants and bars all year round, and a 50 per cent discount off an overnight stay at any hotel from October to March inclusive.

The hotel firm says the scheme shows its commitment to the area.

Three of the hotels have recently reopened following a short winter closure, with the Royal Marine Hotel in Brora due to reopen in April following an extensive, £1.5 million renovation.

Highland Coast Hotels chairman David Whiteford said: "Our locals discount scheme is just one of several community initiatives from the group.

"It’s important that locals can socialise in our premises with friends and family and feel just as welcome as our visitors from elsewhere.

"Indeed, Highland Coast Hotels already invests in the surrounding area, from listing local food and drink suppliers and arts and crafts producers as well as pointing our guests in the direction of local activity providers.

"By hosting regular community liaison group meetings with community leaders, we’ve already managed to create collaborative opportunities that in turn should create, we hope, more local career opportunities and business start-ups."

Local residents can apply for the card by filling in an online form which can be found on their local hotel website's community page. Alternatively, application forms are also available at the four hotels. The cards will be posted to the address provided on the application forms.
