Dornoch Area Community Council posted: "Graeme was the community council's longest serving member, spanning a career of three decades and serving in every office including that of provost.

"His intimate knowledge of Dornoch and its history was legendary. He was a man of integrity, and his actions and convictions were always motivated by what he considered to be the best for the town he loved.

"Graeme was a man of great courage and loyalty. He continued to serve as an active member of the community council from his sickbed for the last 10 months of his life, assiduously reading all the meeting papers and actively participating in every meeting via Zoom.

"He will be sorely missed."
