Fèis Chataibh is looking for volunteers to help with its annual fèis, which this year runs from Monday to Friday July 1-5.

The fèis is an opportunity for young people to enjoy a week of tuition in traditional music, Gaelic and song and to learn an instrument.

The event is run by a committee of enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to ensuring that as many local young people as possible have the opportunity to learn about traditional music.

Aileen Ogilvie, from Fèis Chataibh, said: “The committee is looking to build up a pool of volunteers to support this year's event which will be held at Golspie High School.

“Any offer of help, no matter how big or small, would be gratefully received. You don't have to be available for the whole week.”

Volunteer tasks may include assisting with registration on opening day, supervising young people during breaks, setting up rooms, organising games, moving music equipment, stewarding concerts and assisting tutors.

All volunteers will be required to undergo a PVG check, the cost of which will be covered.

Ms Ogilvie said: “You don't have to be be a musician or speak Gaelic to get involved with the fèis but we can't promise you won't leave having picked some up!”
