A HIGHLAND bakery chain is hoping for an increase in sales as the region emerges from lockdown – after using cuts in VAT to lower the price of their popular wares.

Harry Gow, which runs sites across the Highlands, has announced that it will be passing on the full savings of the temporary 15 per cent cut in VAT.

As of today the company, which has twice won Scottish Baker of the Year, says it will be offering all of its hot food "at a ‘slice’ of the price".

This will include its hot rolls, paninis and flaky sausage rolls.

Sara McIntosh, bakery director of Harry Gow Bakery says: ‘‘With the temporary cut in VAT on all takeaway hot food and hot drinks Harry Gow Bakery is very pleased to pass on the full benefit to our customers.

"All our hot savouries, bacon rolls, soup, paninis etc are thoroughly enjoyed by our customers and even more now the VAT level is reduced by 15 per cent, making them that bit cheaper."

The bakery added that it was hoping to put a smile back on the faces of its loyal customers after a turbulent start to 2020.

Headquartered in Inverness, the brand has 19 of its own outlets across Scotland and is stocked in 35 Co-ops across the Highlands and Moray.
