Two Brora Army Cadets have seen their recent hard work in their cadet training rewarded.
Cadet Lance Corporal Liam Mackay (15) and Cadet Lance Corporal Steven Macleod (14), of 1st Battalion the Highlanders have both been presented with their one star army proficiency certificate.
The two will now progress on to the next level of their cadet training.
All cadets follow a training syllabus called the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC), which is split into five different levels, from basic to four star.
The programme gets more challenging as cadets progress up each level.
Each APC level teaches ten different subjects from shooting and fieldcraft to community engagement and sport.
By passing one star, both Liam and Steven are now half-way through their cadet training.
Lance Corporals MacKay and Macleod were presented with their certificates earlier this month by Major Neil Mclean, Caithness Company commander.
The presentation took place during the Brora detachment’s first night back from the battalion’s summer shut-down, which followed its recent two week summer annual summer camp in July.
Brora Detachment meet every Wednesday evening at Brora Cadet Centre on Gower Street from 7pm-9.15pm.
Major Mclean said: “1st Battalion the Highlanders ACF is a youth organisation which provides challenging adventure, sporting and community activities aiming to inspire young people to achieve success in live while having fun at the same time."
The detachment would welcome new cadets. For more information please contact Graeme Wells, 1st Battalion The Highlanders Army Cadet Force PR Officer on PRO1hldrsacf@armymail.mod.uk or go online to armycadets.com.
