There was a full house at Brora Golf Club last night (Saturday, October 28) for a spooky, Halloween-themed bingo and quiz night, writes Alistair Risk.

The event was a fundraiser jointly run by the Rotary Club of East Sutherland and volunteer group the Lawson Cambusavie Memorial Hospital Friends (LCMHF).

Proceeds will go to the Friends which provides much needed equipment and items that the cash-strapped NHS cannot buy for the Lawson Memorial Hospital and the adjacent Cambusavie Unit at Golspie.

Stars of the evening were Rev Simon Scott, dressed as Dracula, who served as bingo caller and a 'devilish' Dr Nick Lindsay as the quizmaster – his spellbinding assistant was Ellen Lindsay.

The tables were strewn with seasonal treats and home baking and a couple of zombies even entertained on the accordion as their party piece to earn their “treats”

Thanks to a witches coven putting a spell on the audience, almost £750 was raised on the night, all of which will go a long way towards those little extras that make a stay in hospital more comfortable.

The Friends posted afterwards on their social media site that it had been an "amazing night".

Social media users agreed with one posting: "An absolutely fabulous evening from the greeting at the door to the goodbyes at the end. Roll on the next one!"
