However, despite the lack of opportuity to row, members turned out in force for the club’s AGM last week.

Chairman Ronald Mackay reviewed the past season which saw some great results, but no outright regatta wins.

With some new and highly competitive regattas being entered, the standard second place overall, was a cause for celebration rather than despondency.

However, the club’s competitive rowers will be hoping for some trophies in the coming season.

Skifguefest in Ireland at the beginning of August is a major focus of the training this year.

The club, which is based at the Seafront Centre, will host its own regatta on Saturday, July 6, and hope to welcome 11 other clubs to compete for the Campbell Port Trophy.

The Golspie Three Peaks Challenge, which was held for the first time in 2021, will also return this year as well, with the date to be finally confirmed in the next week or two.

The challenge sees entrants hike, bike or run across three of the highest peaks surrounding Golspie village.

Club members are welcome to take a boat whenever sea conditions permit and social rowing, wildlife watching and the occasional evening pottering are also part of the club’s regular activities.

Anyone wishing to try their hand at rowing is very welcome to join the club at Ferrycroft on Little Loch Shin, on Sunday, March 17 from 10am.
