Golspie minister signs up for Great Wilderness Challenge to raise funds for Highland Hospice

A GOLSPIE minister is taking part in the Great Wilderness Challenge to raise funds for Highland Hospice and social care charities supporting Highland residents.

Free Church minister Eric Paterson has registered to undertake the 25-mile hike from Dundonnell to Poolewe, through the Remote Fisherfield Forest.

The Great Wilderness Challenge 2023 take place on Saturday, August 12, and registration is now open.

There are a number of routes to choose from, ranging from 25 miles to 13 miles, seven miles and a 10K run.

The 25-miler is described as a "strenuous route in amazing surroundings, requiring serious fitness preparation".

Rev Paterson has started training for the challenge with recent walks in Torridon and Lochaber as well as six-mile walks in the area round his home village.

He has set a fundraising target of £300 and has already raised £225. To donate, click here.
