Golspie artist 'delighted' to have two paintings featured on portrait awards longlist

The work of a well-known Golspie professional artist featured on the longlist for the Scottish Portrait Awards 2022, it has emerged

Jennifer Mackenzie revealed on her social media page that two of her paintings had been longlisted – 'Bob' and a 'Book at Bedtime'.

However, Mrs Mackenzie did not make it from the longlist on to the 2022 shortlist.

She wrote: "I didn't make the shortlist this year (an also ran) but I am still delighted to be on this list with so many great artists."

Originally from Coatbridge, Mrs Mackenzie graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1971, spent a further year at Jordanhill College of Education and then taught art and design at schools in Lanarkshire, Inverness and Sutherland.

She took early retirement from teaching in 2001 to become a full-time artist. Working mainly in oils, she paints landscapes and figurative pieces as well as still life.
