The fastest entrants of the day in each category will be awarded a handmade trophy and all participants are invited to a celebratory BBQ at Golspie's Seafront Centre after the race.

Each competitor will receive a Golspie 3 Peaks Challenge reusable water bottle which they will be able to fill up and take with them on the day, to support care for the local environment by avoiding disposable plastics.

With the support of Sutherland Estates this year, there are an overall 200 spots open in the following nine categories: fastest male hike/bike; fastest female hike/bike; fastest male runner; fastest female runner; fastest male hiker; fastest female hiker; fastest overall group; best overall junior male; best overall junior female.

Event organiser June Mackay of Golspie Rowing Club, said: “Our first 3 Peaks Challenge was well supported and we are looking forward to welcoming even more participants this year.

“All the money raised will go towards the upkeep of our two skiffs, and also make it possible for the rowing club to attend regattas this year, including our first time in Ireland at the Strangford Skiffie Fest in August."

Anyone interested in finding out more about the challenge or signing up should visit the Golspie 3 Peaks Challenge Facebook page or contact June at mackay_june@hotmail.com

Anyone keen to try out rowing can join the club on a Sunday from 10am or Wednesday from 6.30pm.

As well as the challenge and their own Golspie Regatta, the club organises the annual Golspie Hogmanay Torchlight Celebration Parade and supports various events throughout the year in collaboration with other community groups.
