It’s a golden year for Golspie Gala Week as the hugely popular festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

And presiding over events will be the 50th Gala Queen Mea Macleod who will be helped by her attendants Chelsea Morrison and Tyler Oglesby.

The trio were selected for the roles at a Gala Queen Dance at the Stag's Head Hotel in the village earlier in the year.

They are preparing for a busy time over the course of the Gala Week which kicks off on Saturday, July 29, and runs until the following Saturday, August 5.

The jam-packed programme includes all the traditional favourite activities but also something extra special to mark the momentous milestone.

Eilidh Sutherland, who helps organise the festivities, said: “We are hosting a Queen’s Ball to celebrate the Gala Week turning 50. All previous queens and attendants are invited to come along and celebrate with us.”
