Go Golspie Development Trust is to take over responsibility for a local food distribution service, it has been announced.

The service was set up and run by Sutherland Care Forum (SCF) but will now be transferred to the Trust from Monday, January 29.

Caroline Cousins, chairwoman of the Care Forum, said the Trust would receive the same deliveries as the forum had previously received from Aberdeen-based Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE).

Go Golspie will also collect surplus food in a Food Share Initiative arrangement made with the local Co-op store.

The Trust will be making food available at its Fountain Road Hall on Mondays from 11am-1pm and Wednesdays from 2pm-4pm.
