A LOCAL school pupil was given the honour of switching on the Culrain Christmas tree lights at the weekend.

And Rebecca Lall (11), of Gledfield Primary School, got into the festive spirit by donning a reindeer antler head band and painting her nose red.

The event was well attended not just by Culrain residents but folk from surrounding crofts as well as from Rosehall and Invershin.

To a hearty countdown the lights were turned on and the community enjoyed an evening of chat and laughter and friendly high spirits.

Complimentary mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies were provided by the Culrain and District Hall Committee, supplemented by community contributions.

Anne Henderson, Joss Elliott and Graham Charge manned the refreshment tent whilst Christiaan Maris provided Christmas music to keep feet tapping and heighten the Christmas spirit.
