A poignant vintage tractor run, which has raised thousands of pounds for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS), is about to take to the road for the sixth time.

Saturday'ss Gars Tractor Run is set to be the biggest yet with 85 registration packs sent out.

Tractor drivers from three counties, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, regularly take part in the run.

The 53-mile run is in memory of motor mechanic Gary Macangus, who died suddenly in December 2013, aged just 53.

After his death, Gary's family decided to carry on the tradition of the run in his memory and raise funds for CHSS at the same time. This year's run is also in aid of Macmillan Nurses.

Gars Tractor Run sets off from Dornoch town square tomorrow at around 10am and calls at Embo, Rogart, Lairg, for a lunch break, Invershin , for a light refreshment, and Bonar Bridge before the last lap back to Dornoch and the finish at Meadows park.

The run will be paraded back into the town by pipers and will go past Gar's home.

Gary's wife, Catherine, said: "The run is a great sight to see, especially coming over the Mound towards the turn-off to Rogart.

"The photos of the run that people have taken over the years are amazing and we never tire of them."

Donations can be made via the tractor drivers, who all have their own sponsor forms or on line at Justgiving. Sponsor forms are also available at Dornoch Service Point.
