East Sutherland Rescue Association has said no decision has yet been taken as to whether its old lifeboat shed at Dornoch beach will be demolished when the new one - under construction adjacent to it - is complete.

A spokesman for the inshore rescue service said: “If we do demolish it, the Common Good land on which it stands is ESRA’s – it is part of a 99-year lease which cost us £4000 to sort out.”

ESRA is making good progress on its new £550,000 rescue centre but more funding is needed to complete the project because of the rising cost of building materials.

However, the group hopes to be able to use it by March 2022.
