Managers of the Screen Machine have cancelled planned upcoming visits to four Sutherland communities.

A new mobile cinema called Cinémobile was scheduled to visit Kinlochbervie, Durness, Bettyhill and Lairg in early July.

It was set to be the first time in months the mobile cinema had visited Kinlochbervie, Durness and Bettyhill after the service was reduced due to mechanical issues experienced by former vehicle, the Screen Machine.

But a new vehicle, the Cinémobile was purchased and the schedule to Sutherland communities was reinstated.

Cinémobile was due to call in at Kinlochbervie on July 1-2; Durness on July 3-4; Bettyhill on July 5-6 and Lairg on July 7-8.

Tickets for these locations had gone on sale and screenings included Guardians of the Galaxy; Local Hero; The Little Mermaid; and the National Theare’s Fleabag.

But a post on the Screen Machine’s social media page reads: “We are very sorry to be letting you know that our visits from July 1-8 are cancelled.

“This is due to an operational issue that we will be unable to resolve before these dates.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this causes. All bookings will receive a full refund.

“We look forward to returning to these locations in the next few months and hope to see you then."
