A fundraiser has been launched in memory of Stuart Campbell of Dornoch, who was tragically found dead on Ben Loyal, south of Tongue, last Friday.

Derek Gunn has created a JustGiving page to raise money for Assynt Mountain Rescue Team, members of which were involved in the search for Mr Campbell.

On the page Mr Gunn states: “Stuart’s family will be eternally grateful to Assynt Mountain Rescue for all the time and effort that went into finding Stuart and bringing him home to rest in peace.”

Eighty donations have already been made totalling £2615 – in excess of the fundraiser’s original stated target of £1000.

A couple who donated £50 posted on the site: “In appreciation of the dedication of our mountain rescue teams to the challenging tasks they undertake and the importance of their services to families.”
