Lochbroom Community Council has announced plans for refurbishment of an Ullapool playpark which has been in need of care for many years now.

The community council is working with energy company SSE and RJ Mcleod, who will assist in clearing and preparing the site for the new park infrastructure.

Funding for the new playpark equipment is yet to be secured however. Lochbroom Community Council is looking to raise £2000 to make this happen.

The new playpark will also feature more inclusive infrastructure such as roundabouts which are accessible for wheelchair users.

Lochbroom Community Council said: "We are delighted to announce that work will soon start on the complete refurbishment of this popular park. We aren't quite there with the total funding but we're able to start due to very generous assistance from SSE and RJ Mcleod. Any donations to the project will also be gratefully received."

Councillor Liz Kraft said: "This has been a community project and a vision of Lochbroom Community Council member Angela Ford, who has been dedicated in taking it forward. Angela’s vision is of will be an outdoor space than can be accessible to the community. Funding has not yet been fully secured and several potential funding bids for this are currently under consideration.
