Funding award for Lairg Learning Centre

The manager of Lairg and District Learning Centre has said she is delighted at a £48,000 award from the Robertson Trust, granted over a three year period.

Rhionna Mackay posted on social media: “These funds are vital in enabling us as an independent learning centre to continue offering community learning for our communities.”

A total of £1,990,000 was awarded to 62 organisations in the trust’s latest disbursement.

A spokesman for the Robertson Trust said that each of the organisations which benefited had demonstrated how their work was contributing to the alleviation of poverty and trauma in Scotland.

He said the work of the various oganisations contributed to three themes – financial wellbeing, emotional wellbeing and relationships, and educations and work pathways.

Lairg and District Learning Centre complied with the theme of education and work pathways.

Social media users praised the centre’s work and posted that the award was “great news” and “well deserved”.
