Four fires near Golspie cycle track thought to be started deliberately

North police are appealing for anyone with any information about suspected fire-raising incidents at Golspie last week to come forward.

Four separate fires were lit next to a walking and bike trail behind Sportsman’s Walk in the village at around 3pm last Wednesday, May 3.

Firefighters were called out and quickly brought the blazes under control before they could spread to nearby woodland.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Circumstances suggest that the fires had been started deliberately and had the potential to cause severe damage to the surrounding woodland.”
