A FORMER church hall now owned by a Sutherland community, is to have a grand opening on Saturday.
The event at Fountain Road Hall, Golspie, has a dual purpose with flood protection schemes proposed for the village also on display.
The building was purchased from the Church of Scotland on behalf of the community by development group Go Golspie last year.
The Scottish Land Fund awarded £147,900 towards the £200,000 asking price and the shortfall was made up through private donations and fundraising.
The grand opening runs from 10.30am-2.30pm with local residents Alan and Anne Barclay symbolically cutting a ribbon at noon.
There will be music from local harpist Jennifer Port, Golspie Choral and Lairg Gaelic Choir.
A barbeque from 5pm-7pm will be followed by a quiz.
The event is also serving to update and consult the community on the Golspie Flood Defence Project with displays and information available.
Transport is available on the Go Golspie bus. To book, call 01408 634033.
