A FORMER Sutherland police station is one of the lots up for grabs in an online property auction this afternoon (Thursday, February 22).

The former police station in Lairg will go under the hammer in a live-streamed property auction run by Shepherd Commercial Property Auctions.

Shepherd Chartered Surveyers were instructed to auction the property by Police Scotland.

The auction starts at 2.30pm and Lairg police station is one of 35 commercial properties and development land located across Scotland being put up for sale.

A guide price of £145,000 has been set.

The attractive two-storey detached building with detached garage and on site parking occupies a prominent position immediately adjacent to Lairg Fire Station on Main Street where it joins Davidson Terrace which forms part of the main A839 running through the village.

The accommodation comprises mainly cellular space on the ground and first floors.

Linda Cameron, from the Inverness office of Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, said: “For sale with vacant possession, this attractive detached property offers a rare opportunity for redevelopment which, subject to planning, may be suitable for residential use."

All properties in the auction are open to remote bidding online, on the phone and by proxy.

The online auction will involve the posting of various lots online for which the auctioneer will invite pre-authorised buyers to post bids via a live broadcast.

The live broadcast is expected to be highly competitive, with several lots already attracting significant interest.
