A former Victorian shooting lodge in Sutherland has been put on the market.
Cambusmore Lodge, located just over six miles north of Dornoch off the A9, is being sold through estate agents Galbraith with offers of more than £900,000 invited.
A self-contained three-bedroom staff flat and a separate cottage, formerly the chauffeur’s accommodation, are also included in the sale.
Galbraith said: “Formerly a shooting lodge on the Sutherland Estate, the house was part of the Cambusmore Estate which was sold in 2021.
“The new owners of the estate have undertaken a programme of planting the land with native woodland to combat climate change and biodiversity loss.
“The lodge is not part of this vision and so is now being sold to enable new owners to restore the house to its former glory whether as a residential property, holiday rental business or events venue.”
Surrounded by 19.04 acres of gardens and mature broadleaf woodland, the lodge enjoys south-facing views over Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve.
The property has four reception rooms, 10 bedrooms and four bathrooms.
However, the selling agents say that despite being occupied until 2021, the lodge is in a poor state of repair and needs a complete refurbishment.
But they add: “It is an excellent example of a late Victorian shooting lodge, retaining its grandeur and many original features. It is rare for a house of this quality to be sold from an estate and it offers an exceptional residential or commercial opportunity.”
