The 28-year-old set out yesterday on her mission to dribble a ball from her home town to Golspie, where she trains weekly with Sutherland Women’s Football Club (SWFC).

Her mother, Marianne, told the Northern Times that Franci had just passed Oykel Bridge and was presently accompanied by her dad, Duncan Hutchison.

Mr Hutchison is himself no stranger to monumental challenges, having attempted to row the Atlantic on behalf of WaterAid.

Franci is raising money for her football club and also for Common Goal’s Ukraine emergency response appeal.
