A football club in Easter Ross is appealing for information after the gates to their playing field were stolen.
Inver football club, near Tain, reported the theft of the gates from the entrance of their park on Monday morning. It is believed that the gates could have been stolen on either Friday January 20 and Saturday January 21.
The amateur village team, who reformed in 2019, has been raising funds to repair the fence as part of an ongoing regeneration of Osprey Park. The park is also used by children at nearby Inver primary school.
A statement on the club's Facebook page read: "Sad to have to post this, but some scumbag has stolen our gates. If you’ve seen anything suspicious please get in touch.
"The police have been informed, although there is probably little they can do and the chances are that the gates will be cut up by now and sold for scrap.
"Anyone who has ever been involved in a club will appreciate the work that’s involved in trying to keep groups afloat. We’ve been working hard to try and get enough funds to renew our fence, the last thing we needed was to have to buy new gates as well."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At 8.50am on Monday, January 24, 2023 we received a report of the theft of gates from Village Road in Inver. Enquiries are ongoing."
