Met Office issues heavy rain and floods warning for drivers in parts of the Highlands
Drivers in the Highlands are being urged to take extra care on roads with heavy rain and possible flooding forecast for tonight.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for severe downpours over a 12-hour period through the night from 8pm this evening.
Areas likely to be worst-hit include Inverness, the A82 along the north-west shore of Loch Ness, the Black Isle, parts of Ross-shire, and stretches of the A9 north to Caithness and Sutherland.
A spokesman for the weather agency said: “We’re expecting a wet evening and a night with some disruption from rainfall is likely.”

The Met Office says flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible, while bus and train services will probably be affected, with journey times taking longer
Some interruption to power supplies and other services is also possible, they say.
