PLANS have been announced for new flights to be launched between Inverness and Brittany.

Maxime Ray, owner of newly founded Lorient Aircraft, wants to run three flights a week between Inverness Airport and Lorient South Brittany Airport, running primarily as corporate flights for business travellers though any remaining seats on flights would be sold to non-business travellers “for attractive prices”.

Mr Ray told French media this week: “These are private flights with a certain number of seats which will be marketed over the counter, by the airport, at a competitive price to discover the Highlands, at the foot of Loch Ness!”

If the plans take off they will be Inverness Airport’s third link to international destinations with a KLM service to Amsterdam and seasonal charter flights by TUI to Palma de Mallorca also running.
